Our place
We are on a small acreage in Central Queensland and share our home with some interesting wildlife.
We have many varieties of birds that visit us such as: Double Bar and Zebra Finches, Rosellas, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Apostle Birds, Ibis, Galahs and Quarians to name a few.

A pair of Rosellas Cinnamon Finches Native Wood Ducks

his wings)
I am an avid gardener and won a First Place award
in the inaugural 2008 Regional Gardening Competition.
Here are a few highlights of our garden...

As we rely on tank rainwater here, I use a lot of mulch on my garden beds.
My experience is that Lucerne hay is the best mulch, as it feeds nitrogen back into
the ground, adds lots of organic matter into your soil and the worms love it!
A tip is to use any old cotton items, such as old curtains or doonah covers, etc instead of weed matting.
Lay the natural fibre article flat on the ground around the plants and cut out slots to allow clearance around the plant stems and then put a nice thick layer of mulch on top of this.
The ground holds the mositure wonderfully and this is also recycling to boot!
